Kodi's Club Rescue

This is Libby! Libby just turned 1 and is the sweetest girl! When she arrived at the shelter, she was frightened, wide eyed, and quite timid. She did respond to gentle, soft encouragement, but she was still not sure if she was safe. She was rather puppyish when we wanted to place the slip lead on her and dodged it while resorting to giving play bows, nub wagging. Once leashed, she then came right out of the kennel. She hesitated walking through the kennels, nub down until she saw another dog walking in front of us. Her nub went up and she started to walk more confidently. Libby displayed very social behavior. She came over to us multiple times softly jumping up and leaning into pets. She allowed all handling.
Libby met 3 other dogs at the shelter. In all 3 cases, she walked up slowly to meet the other dog, sniffed around on the ground, mingled nicely with each but did continue to check in with her new human friends. On her way back to the kennel in the shelter, she was again frightened by the dogs barking at the doors to their kennel as she walked past them. We understand the feeling Libby.
Libby went into foster care in a multi-dog home. The family worked with her on house and crate training and she spent her days playing with her new pack and their Jolly balls. Naturally the foster gave Libby structured decompression time to allow her to acclimate into the household and her new pack at her own pace. This is essential for any new dog. Libby did beautifully and proved to be a good citizen in her foster home. Libby requires a slow feeder so she can't inhale her food.
