Kodi's Club Rescue

Meet Findley! This young boy was found wandering the streets of Philly in the dead of winter during an exceptionally unforgiving cold, snowy, icy week. Bony, trembling, frightened of everyone and everything he encountered. Any trust that the world is a friendly place was gone. We didn't include a picture of him when he was found, but it is on our website. All ribs, spine, hips...just skin on bones trying to survive the elements.
A wonderful woman noticed him and had the patience to earn enough of his trust to gently and slowly place a slip lead on him and take him to the local shelter. Kodi's Club was contacted and our work began.
Given the necessary decompression time every dog needs and deserves, Findley showed himself to be a charming and sweet boy. Affectionate, enjoys attention from his humans, a quiet little guy with a gorgeous, warm smile. Fin still carries memories of his days of starvation and life on the street. His adoptive family will need to be aware of this and patient as he determines that he's in safe hands, just as he did with us. Allowed to progress at his own pace is the key to him showing all he has to offer.
Justifiably, Fin inhales his food and requires a slow feeder. He also should be fed away from any other animals. Feelings of starvation and food/water deprivation don't disappear magically. He will initially need a calm, quiet environment so he can process his new surroundings, its boundaries and expectations, and be set up for success. We have faith that armed with the recommendations he will leave us with, Fin will grow into an amazing family member. The scary experiences he endured on the streets will be replaced with new, safe experiences to strengthen his confidence and socialization.
We are asking for children over 12 only, who have lived with a big dog, if there are children in the home or who visit often. We have no cats to use to assess.
If you'd like to be considered for Fin, our application is right here on our website.
