Meet our Evie, the sweetest girl on the planet! Evie has been enjoying life in Vermont in foster care. She has now shown us she is ready to spread her wings and venture on toward adoption! How exciting a time in her life! Evie has one of the most incredible temperaments we have seen on a dog. Ideally, she would thrive with a relatively 'soft' person who has patience. If she is given time to positively figure things out we do not think she will have any limits. Overall, she is just so sweet, and tries so hard. Some things to know about this spunky young girl!

  • Evie is about one years  old. Her first 8 months were spent living outside in a small cement yard. Since she joined us, we had her live with a wonderful couple in New England to learn how to be a valued member of a family and inside a house.

  • Evie is great with people (occasionally a tiny but timid with new people). She loves children, but because she sometimes has a hard time regulating her behavior with impulse control with young kids, no children under 10. Her exuberance and excitement could easily knock them over!

  •  Evie is great with dogs, and enjoys their company. She is pure joy and fun and energy, so would do best with a dog who is like-minded and close to her in size.

  • Evie is quite a sensitive girl, who thrives on praise. When she seems stubborn or oblivious it is just that she does not know what is expected. When she knows, she is a massive “trier.”

  • Evie's obedience is in progress, she has the basics of sit, down, come, wait, touch, inside (kennel), busy busy (elimination), leave it, look (at your face), up (into the car).

  • Evie is fully house trained. She has only jumped on the couch a couple of times to get a toy, and she has kept her feet off of counters completely for weeks. She had learned how to be a dog and gets security and confidence from a buddy. We are going to accommodate that and only adopt her into a home who has a resident dog.

  • Evie's physical handling is amazing! Ears, feet, you name it. Nail trims she is wonderful. She is sweet, loves adventures, walks, meeting anyone, cuddling, toys, playing. She really wants her person. She tries so hard to be helpful and involved and will follow you from room to room and plop down and watch you until you go to another room, and she repeats. She is not a dog who, at this point in her life, would thrive in a home in which her guardian is not home for long periods of time during the day.

If you'd like to be considered for Evie, please submit our application to help us determine if she's a match. We would prefer her to remain within 3 hours of her foster home in which is in Colchester Vermont (near Burlington VT).
